Life after Cancer
The cancer experience is something that you may never forget. You may worry about many things such as the cancer coming back or about close relationships that may have changed. However, looking after your emotional wellbeing is very important after your treatment for cancer. Returning to work as soon as you are physically able is one way to make your life feel normal again.
If you do feel anxious or depressed, or if you have any other concerns, you should seek support. If you feel you'd like more support, ask your doctor to refer you to a specialist such as a counsellor, psychologist or psychiatrist.
You may need treatment and care in addition to the regular follow-up appointments. In between appointments, if you notice any changes or experience other symptoms, do not wait until the regular appointment to see your General Practitioner or Specialist. It is not unusual to experience aches, pain and discomfort.
Should you notice any new lumps or experience new symptoms, follow it up with your doctor immediately. You should still continue to have regular follow up visits with your doctor / oncologist who will monitor your progress.
